Acknowledgements
Although much of this history has come from my own memory or has been gathered from various documents I have accumulated over the years, which includes letters, newspaper clippings, photographs, high school & college yearbooks, work records, legal documents, etc., I must acknowledge the following persons for their assistance in this endeavor:
My wife, DeVonne, who has lived with me for over fifty years, has been able to correct my memory on several incidents that occurred during our married life, as well as reminded me of some which I had forgotten.
My sister, Bette, has filled me in on some of her personal background and has also corrected my memory of things which occurred as we were growing up.
My sister-in-law, Dura, has given me much information regarding my brother, Bob, and his life during their marriage. DeVonne’s sisters: Shirlie, June, and Pauline have filled me in on some of their activities.
My children, Dicky, Reggie & Kandy have read my chapters assigned to them and made suggestions and corrections as needed.
Without the assistance of all of the above individuals, I would have overlooked several important items and probably drifted off the track on many occasions in my attempt to write an accurate account of my life and those persons who have influenced me so greatly.
